Cafe Junction

Quick Restaurant Review | Cafe Junction is located in Pharr, Texas.

When we lived in Lakewood, Ohio we have a pretty great breakfast spot that we still look back on with fond memories.  The Coffee Pot in Lakewood, Ohio made us smile every time we walked in and Ms. Josie knew our order before having to ask. After visiting Cafe Junctionin Pharr, Texas we have decided that this breakfast spot rivals that of our beloved Coffee Pot. But then again – if Ms. Josie could make migas locas, well then the search for a legitimate Mexican breakfast in the midwest would have been over.

Cafe Junction quickly became one of our favorite places to get breakfast in the RGV. Before we bought the house in Edinburg (near work), we were able to go in far more frequently. However, despite the cross town trek, we will gladly plan to have Cafe Junction in our morning weekend plans.

Relative to the food – I (@knrottet) have two favorites. The first is the migas locas. Chorizo in the migas makes me so happy that we have tried to replicate this recipe at home – when we can’t get across town on a particular weekend morning. While our at home recipe is pretty darn good (thanks to @dr_d_rod), Cafe Junction still manages to win us over each time with this dish. My other go to favorite is the totally fattie bo battie chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. You get the chicken fried steak and eggs, with a very good gravy. But you also get potatoes and refried beans. If when we go to Cafe Junction I have been good all week in terms of my diet, then this breakfast plate is my reward – and man that reward was worth the dieting all week!

Admittedly, I am not sure, but I believe this is a family run business. I’d love to be able to sit down and chat with the owners on a future podcast to talk about the family business, what is the glue that holds everything together, whose recipes are they using – all of that great stuff to really showcase the people and the work that goes in to consistently making their customers happy and keep coming back!
